Grewal Orthopedic & Spine Care brings fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgery to Queens — a community that has long deserved better access to subspecialty spine care. Dr. Kanwarpaul Grewal’s Elmhurst office offers the full range of his Long Island practice: conservative non-surgical management, interventional pain management through Dr. Patwary, and advanced minimally invasive surgery when it’s the right choice.
Queens is one of the most diverse communities in the world. Dr. Grewal speaks English, Punjabi, and Hindi. Workers’ compensation and no-fault insurance are accepted directly, making quality spine care accessible to the working families of Queens regardless of how their injury happened.
Why Fellowship Training Matters
Not every surgeon who operates on the spine is a spine specialist. Dr. Grewal completed a dedicated Complex Spine and Deformity Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco — one of the world’s leading spine programs — after completing his orthopedic surgery residency. Fewer than 20% of surgeons who perform spine procedures have this level of subspecialty training. The difference shows in complex cases, nuanced surgical decision-making, and knowing when surgery is not the right answer.
Conditions We Treat at Our Elmhurst Office
Herniated Disc and Sciatica
The most common reason Queens patients come to us. Eighty to ninety percent resolve without surgery — our goal is to get you there with the right physical therapy, appropriate injections, and time. When surgery is genuinely needed, Dr. Grewal performs minimally invasive microdiscectomy as an outpatient procedure.
Spinal Stenosis
Canal narrowing that causes leg cramping and weakness with walking — particularly common after 50. MIS laminectomy, when conservative care fails, typically produces significant improvement in walking tolerance with much faster recovery than traditional open decompression.
Neck Pain and Cervical Radiculopathy
A pinched nerve in the neck causing arm pain, numbness, or weakness. ACDF and cervical disc replacement are available as same-day outpatient procedures.
Workers’ Comp and No-Fault Injuries
Authorized NY State workers’ compensation provider. No-fault auto accident evaluations accepted directly. C-4 forms completed same visit. Detailed narrative medical reports provided for legal and insurance proceedings.
Communities We Serve in Queens
Our Elmhurst office is accessible from virtually every corner of Queens: Jackson Heights, Woodside, Corona, East Elmhurst, Astoria, Long Island City, Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Flushing, College Point, Whitestone, Bayside, Fresh Meadows, Jamaica, and Hollis. The 7 train stops within walking distance, and Queens Boulevard provides direct access from both directions across the borough.
