| Yes. Adult scoliosis curves can slowly progress over time — both curves carried over from adolescence and degenerative curves that develop later. That’s why periodic monitoring with standing X-rays matters: catching progression early keeps more options open and is far better than a one-time reassurance. |

How much it progresses
Progression is usually gradual, but larger curves and those with imbalance tend to advance more. Tracking the Cobb angle over time guides the plan.
What we do about it
Most progression is managed conservatively; surgery is considered when a curve progresses with nerve compression or balance problems that limit daily life.
